EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL TASKS OF THE SENIOR HOSPITAL CARE INVESTIGATOR
Under supervision of the Supervising Hospital Care Investigator:
1. Assigns and controls work flow within the Unit.
2. Reviews case record and recommendation or approval or denial and category of assistance submitted by the Hospital Care Investigators in the Unit.
3. Authorizes or denies Medical Assistance for in-patient care and determines eligibility for other Medical Assistance.
4. Ascertains that all applicable sources of reimbursement have been explored.
5. May contact investigators of more difficult or complex nature.
6. May conduct special or emergency investigations.
7. Advises Hospital Care Investigators, Trainees, and the Senior Clerks assigned to Out-patient Departments in difficult matters.
8. Interprets local, state and federal rules and regulations for the Unit Staff.
9. Assists the workers in developing their individual skills.
10. Conducts the day by day training of Hospital Care Investigator Trainees assigned to the Unit.
11. Maintains statistical controls.
12. Prepares reports regarding current status of the Unit for supervisory review.
13. Performs related tasks assigned by Supervising Hospital Care Investigator.
14. Senior Hospital Care Investigator determines for Senior Clerks category eligibility. Approves or denies application for Medical Assistance based on case record review and partially prepared authorization.
